Prayer and fasting are vital spiritual practices in Christianity, deeply rooted in the teachings of the Jesus Christ and the early Church. They are often combined as a means of drawing closer to God, seeking divine guidance, and strengthening one’s faith.
When prayer and fasting are combined, they become a powerful spiritual exercise. Throughout the Bible, believers engaged in prayer and fasting during critical moments—seeking direction, breakthrough, or divine intervention. For example, in Acts 13:2–3, the early church fasted and prayed before sending out missionaries, showing how these practices guide decision-making and ministry.
